Views on Learning (VOL) is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation established to provide our Educational Broadband Service (EBS) schools with distance education opportunities that meet the requirements of No Child Left behind (NCLB) and improve student learning. In 2008, we formed a partnership with the Northern Indiana Educational Service Center (NIESC) to facilitate the mission by accessing their network of education experts and resources. We are dedicated to create an interactive distance learning community that meets the needs of the 21st Century K-12 "Digital Natives." We will use technology to enhance the quality of learning, to increase opportunities for collaboration, and to share educational resources, including professional development.
What We Do
To facilitate our mission, we identify schools in our market areas to bring into our nationwide learning consortium. Through a grant process, we provide successful grant applicants a Lifesize® Room 220 Conferencing System or Lifesize® Express 220, including a 50” HD1080p monitor/cart, professional development, and installation. With this system, schools will have free access to our network which allows them to connect with other classrooms, events, or field trips throughout the world.
Additionally, successful applicants will receive free Internet connectivity using the EBS 2.5 GHz spectrum. Modem(s) will be provided to connect to either Clearwire’s 4G WiMax network or Digital Bridge's network. This will provide schools/educational entities with the bandwidth necessary for IVC and other educational uses. Furthermore, we will provide each school with Learn360 licenses to access additional content from the web. Go to http://www.learn360.com/index.aspx for more information about Learn360.
Views on Learning holds FCC Licenses for educational use in 24 markets across the United States. Clearwire and Digital Bridge are our lease partners and are currently “lighting up” our markets with 4G WiMax Internet service.
